Hey, girlfriend! Wow, can you believe we're here? You and me, on this blog, chatting it up. This is the sweetest thing to me. And I have to admit... I wrestled over what the first thing I'd tell you would be. There's a lot of things I want to tell you, a lot of tips and tricks I want to give. But, I realize you're probably here for one of two reasons. Either:

  1. You're my mom. Hey, Mom. Or...
  2. You want to lead the healthiest, most good-for-you, JOYFUL life possible.

And so, I think we need to start here, the root of it all, the one, singular key to being happy and healthy today. Like literally, right now. For free. No tricks. And it goes something like this:

SELF LOVE.

Babe, we need to get one thing straight before we talk eating healthy, working out, natural products, etc. etc. I want you to ask yourself right now in your mind: "Why am I here? What brought me to this blog?" My guess is, when you start probing around within yourself, you might find some insecurities that you didn't even know were there. Some places where you're subconsciously telling yourself, "I need to eat healthy so I look thinner" or "Maybe if I can just get some tips to pull my life together, I'll feel better about myself."

Let's make a pact, okay? If you commit to this agreement, really commit, I can't say it's going to be easy. You can brush it off and cut to chase with my other posts, sure. But if we don't start here, tips, tricks and tutorials are going to be utterly meaningless, and we're both going to be left feeling more empty than when we started. Here's the pact: Let's agree that from here on out, we're ultimately going to look to ONE PLACE to feel happy and healthy. That place is the worth we find in Jesus Christ.

You and I both know it's a whole lot easier said than done. Let's face it: Internal lies seem to have megaphones and the truth often seems like a distant whisper. I'm right in the middle of this daily battle with you, constantly struggling with where I place my value, how I see myself, and what I choose to believe.

You are precious and you are worthy. Do you believe that? Deep down in your bones? Jesus Christ literally calls you "Beloved." He calls the way that you are formed "wonderful." He knows fully the plans that He has for you are, and he calls them "great." And He longs to be in a relationship with you.

Nothing else I'm going to tell you will be the "key" to feeling happy and healthy. Trust me, I tried that. Over and over and over again.

If Christ and His view of us is our foundation, then everything else is just bonuses. Bonuses that we love because we already love ourselves! Not because we feel the need to fix what is already perfect in His sight.

Hey, we're in this together. Let's listen to the truth from here on out. No greater joy is there to be found.
